no, the closest thing to tc is dsl, but tc is not based on dsl. the common features are due to the fact that robert shingledecker, the author of tc, also wrote some of the features of dsl. plus a lot of dsl's community can be found here. tc was originally compiled in finnix, i believe, but it is not based on finnix either.

I don't think you can create a 10mb desktop distro these days by modifying an existing (recent) distro.   TC is stripped down to the basics even within some of the common scripts that tend to be left as-is in most derivative distros. The main init script, for example, is much tighter than what you'd find elsewhere (this is particularly apparent when you note the boot time), and even the startx script is very compact.

TC is based on new features of the 2.6 kernel and the talks of Rob Landley at ols2006.
The concepts of extensions is something that I developed at my prior project (damnsmalllinux) and ported to the new initrd+busybox setup. The initrd+busybox is a natural fit for my extension concepts. The first cut of TC was compiled on finnix, but not based on finnix, which is Debian Knoppix like. As is damnsmalllinuix. So while Tiny Core may feel like an updated damnsmalllinux, its base architecture is not.

No, not even standard lua. The FLTK utils are now written in C/C++.

All the murgaLua I converted to Fltk Fluid projects.
Using Fluid project files provides an easy to use GUI IDE that will generate Fltk/C++
