(rdesktop on start) special purpose for Thin Client devices
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:08:11 PM »
Hi.

Left me state that I have been lucky enough to try this out already in a limited way. It's great stuff and I appreciate the work done by so many to make something like this.

I am trying understand a bit more regarding how I can make this boot the device, load the desktop and launch RDesktop. I prefer that as a thin client and I used the default client for connecting to Windows Terminal Servers but it would be too difficult for users to manage. I know something similar has been done by others here. I downloaded and tried to compile/build the grdesktop frontend but was not able to.

Has anyone else done this or has some advice on how I would handle this?

Thanks in advance

See http://tinycorelinux.com/faq.html#appstart

If the current rdesktop utilities in the repository isn't sufficient... or if you specifically want grdesktop, you can request it as an extension (see the Extension requests section).

There's one frontend already, xdrdesktop, in the repo.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

I have evaluated the xrdesktop and I am of the opinion that grdesktop is simpler for the end user.

Thanks though.
