you don't think it is some issue with OSS?

the terminal output shows "find"....and then something about
OSS

why wouldn't flash be running then?

it's never triggered into running when Opera browser starts?

thanks,

i will try your advice

Vince.

i don't have "flash10" in my applications menu

It's "getFlash10" and it seems to start just downloading flash again.

hmmm

i will have to start again from scratch.

i will try that instead......but it don't look like you say

Vince.

Hi vinceASPECT
The find command just displayed the various links to the flash libraries. The ps command shows that
the only process running that contained the text  libflash  was the grep command it was piped
through. If flash was running you would have gotten two responses from that ps command.

Hi vinceASPECT
Getflash10 is the script that gets the flash libraries and creates tcz file. Flash10 is the actual application
after it's installed. Maybe the application menu is not getting updated? Maybe you need to restart the
machine after running getflash10? I don't know.

hi

i don't know also.

If  the menu is not getting updated....then i have no idea why. Its clean
boot of tcl from CD disc with no other software is present on the system..... just Opera
and Flash.

If the machine needs to be re-started after "getFlash10" is executed
then i guesse i can try that..

thanks

Vince.

getFlash10 does not require any further action to make use of flash after it is run, it is ready to go.

However, if you run the getFlash10 script when you already have in installed instance of flash.tcz, you do need to reboot as the installed instance of the flash extension is broken by the updated flash.tcz.  I think I will add a check for this to the script that will prompt to cancel the rerunning of the script, or to allow the rerunning and updating of flash.tcz with a reminder to reboot to use the updated flash installation.

Hello

no there is no luck here with Opera 10 and Flash together....from the tcl app store.

In simple summary

Opera and Flash do not work correctly in Tinycore Linux.

Given that Opera has 40 million users and maybe 100 million users of OperaMobile, how many of those are Tinycore users? (answers on a postcard)

Many people like myself, may have wanted Opera inside tcl.

I have tried this stuff numerous times before .........and it's actually waisted quite a lot of my time.

Today i have had another go at this Opera stuff with completely fresh boots of TCL from CD disc.
Fresh systems with only Opera and Flash and OSS as the scenario. No other software
on the system.

I have tried everything as detailed in the info files and advice but nothing
gets Opera and Flash to work together in Tcl.

Like i said in the OP...

ALL other browsers from the tcl app store work correctly with Flash. (midori,minefield,chrome,Epiphany) butNOT Opera.

This is not the first time i have mentioned this...but it will be the last.

I can't think that anybody tests this stuff, otherwise they would notice that virgin tcl
systems and this Opera scenario fail to work successfully.

It does not point to my laptop having any issues...because ALL other browsers work with Flash.

Rich says that Flash is not even running on my tcl. Why would that be?....after following all info
file instructions?...i have no idea why that would be other than the simple answer that Opera is not compatable with Flash in Tinycore Linux.

anyhow

Vince.

@vinceASPECT
are you willing to stop complain, listen very carefully, and do exactly what i suggest to you? it is up to you in the end, thanks;So

1, first MOVE your existing flash10.tcz and flash10.tcz.dep somewhere out from tce/optional/
2; reboot TC with boot codes base and norestore;
3; after you are again in TC (maybe run startx -> for grafical interface)
4; from appbrowser load local opera-next and OSS
5; Only now load and run getflash10
4; now you should have a fresh tcz extension in tce/optional/; ckeck for it;
5, it will not be uploaded yet, neither in Ondemand menu; it is up to you to load it in RAM now only or forever to be in ondemand menu;
6 finaly (with OSS, opera-next and flash loaded, ckeck with control panel) now you can test the flash
good luck

Hi vinceASPECT
Both nick65go and I are running flash under Opera, so it does work. I noticed nick65go has flash
installed OnDemand instead of OnBoot, as do I. I'm running out of ideas, but if you want to try one
more thing, go to ControlPanel and open AppsAudit.
1. Onboot->Maintenance
2. In the right panel click on flash10
3. Onboot->Exit OnBoot
4. OnDemand->Maintenance
5. In the left panel find flash10 and click on it
6. OnDemand->Exit OnDemand
7. Reboot your machine
8. Click on the desktop and start flash10 from the OnDemand menu
9. Start Opera

I see nick65go got in here ahead of me but I'll post this anyway.

@vinceASPECT

I have just deleted, then loaded again opera10 with appbrowser, and created a fresh flash10;
You are right! Opera10 does not play with the new flash (it is a flash incompatibility, if think i hit it in the past, sorry)
but opera-next (ver 12) will play, as i have now both opened simultaneous on youtube;

hello

nick

Do i need to follow all those instructions...?

You see, my laptop does not allow bootcodes. So your advice is not easily possible for me.
(only some keys of the keyboard work....not all keys)

i don't want to complain, but why is nicks advice not in the Opera info file  (apps store?)
(if it works)

 i can only try his advice imminently by using my dekstop computer after 1.00 am here.
(if nicks advice works, i can then apply his advice to my laptop tcl (hard drive install of tcl)

thanks...

Vince.

Opera10 does find the flash plugin and has it listed in it's plugin options, but loads video for a second and then goes to a white screen.  However, flash works fine with opera-next as well as a downloaded opera 11.50.

Sounds to me like opera10 is not playing well with the newer flash versions (the one I tested was just downloaded now).  My recommendation would be to update to a newer opera.

Oh, just saw Nick's post, but thought I would chime in. We need an opera11 extension, if not done shortly I will put one up.

@vinceASPECT

DO NOT TRY anymore, opera10 does not work, for me shows a blank square instead the youtube movie
opera12 indeed run the movie in the same square; both opera10 and opera12 are running simultaneous

hello,

i am very sorry forum people. I have been impatient with this thread.
The reason for my impatience is because this is not the first time i have
tried Opera and Flash.

i tried all of this Opera/Flash stuff a month ago  and it failed. So i am
not sure how recently YOU forum people have realized about the dysfunctionality
of Opera and Flash, but i myself have never got Opera working with Flash.

To add to this silly situation, i never even realized that "opera next" was actually
a version of Opera browser (version 12) therefor i never tried it out.

anyway, thanks and i will try "Opera Next" with the getFlash extension.

thanks

V.

Hello

"Opera next" extension is working correctly with "getFlash" extension. As per usual
download and install methods of TinyCore Linux.

thanks
