« on: October 09, 2010, 02:33:34 PM »
Team Tiny Core is pleased to announce Tiny Core 3.2 rc3 is now available for testing and preview.
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/3.x/release_candidates/tinycore_3.2rc3.iso

rc1
* Updated busybox to 1.17.2 + patches.
* Improved language translation support in Appsaudit, Wallpaper, and Swapfile.
* Updated Appbrowser to handle long .info file lines.
* Updated Appsaudit & Appbrowser to eliminate spurious trailing null item in FLTK browser widget.
* Updated tce-load for case of missing dependency file.
* Updated filetool.sh: -d for dry run option, comparerestore boot code, and improved encryped backup restores.
* Updated filetool GUI to support options of None/Backup/Safe.
* Updated tc-config: moved 'protect' and 'secure' after extension loading to support alternate layout keyboards.

rc2
* Updated AppsAudit OnDemand logic so no reboot required to move from OnBoot to OnDemand.
* Updated ondemand script for selection and removals of OnDemand items.
* Updated ondemand for better support of freedesktop removals and pathing.
* Added ondemand directory to PATH.

Note: You will need to update your .profile to get PATH update.
cp /etc/skel/.profile ~/.profile

Note: You will need to re-make any ondemand items that were made under a freedesktop DE, e.g. LXDE

rc3
* Updated ondemand to handle freedesktop while also using wbar.
* Replaced filetool GUI with correct one from rc1.
* Updated AppBrowser info tab. Now allows mouse "select for copy".
* Updated System Stats, all tabs allow for mouse "select for copy".
* Updated inittab-save with askfirst for tty3-6 for memory savings when using multivt boot code.
* Removed stats.txt from /opt/.xfiletool.lst

Different font size used by Appbrowser and Control Panel gives inconsistent look and feel. Advice to use the same.

hi

I have not attempted to log out....I did a lot of installing and playing sounds etc

apps browser was working and then when I went to use it again, it would click in wbar but not appear,

a lots of apps are still working but no longer pcmanfm2, and system stats is completely blank

aterm still working as is of course firefox

I hope this might show what I mean?

the list is empty but ondemand apps still work

2) Unfortunately I did not login using bootcode syslog

pls advise if interested, what you want me to do

3) I will attempt a reboot to see what happens

first boot syslog is

If I execute 'wbar_update.sh WhatEver' from a shell I'll get grep: /tmp/tce/xwbar.lst: No such file or directory

I consider this purely cosmetic, and has probably been there since maybe TC 3.1. I just thought to mention it here as that should be rather easy to supress in '/usr/bin/wbar_update.sh'

There really should be no reason in the base for what has been described. I will wait to see if others have similar experiences. Or if you can provide a defined set  of extension loading that produces such and is reproducible then that will be most helpful.

well that might be tricky.

if the apps audit shows blank....I can't prove what I had loaded for on boot versus on demand but I snapshot did show exactly what I had intended to have ondemand.

Or are you referring to some other way of showing the extensions?

hi

thanks not able to reproduce so far.

2)  a new test is moving apps from onboot to ondemand has arisen.

It is solved by clicking on the opposite to where you are but let me explain with an image

Firstly vlc was in my right hand pane....onboot list...which I clicked to remove from onboot to move to ondemand.

Secondly on the click...vlc does not appear in the left hand pane.

On clicking into ondemand ...it re-appears in the left hand and clicking back into onboot its back as well in the left hand panel

not sure if this is just a timing issue?

Thirdly, after all that....clicking in the wm....vlc is still showing as a onboot app (I think) while I have yet to choose it as a ondemand.

Yes I have fixation on easy change of mind between ondemand and onboot.

Yes this is likely to be fixed if I reboot.

3) Even tho this is not my original issue here are me outputs

Seems that you are changing your issues?
I have setup your environment on a test machine.
What where is there a failure?

Re: Your vlc, i.e., switching from onboot to ondemand, selecting Maintenance will refresh both sides of the pick lists for either OnBoot or OnDemand.

I will automate such before 3.2 is final.

hi

altho vlc initially did not show up on left hand pane after being clicked to remove it, a follow up test on dkpg-deb was good the first time so maybe vlc had too many dependencies for the list to cope with?

I will try to set up a new test with a big one like lxde which should have lots of depends.

2) I have still not be able to crash my apps list as initially reported so forget that one pls.

and agreed ....as reported that swapping between onboot to ondemand list or vice versa....refreshes the list if the right hand file was missing from the left hand list

hi

ok my testing for my "fussy" purposes was completed earlier than expected.

target LXDE2 ...installed to ....onboot

reboot shows it loads ok

choose apps audit....click on RH pane and Unselect it from onboot.....initially it does not appear for me in LH list but by clicking into ondemand and back to onboot....lists refresh themselves.....in the left hand pane list.

I suspect its a issue for large dependency type applications?

Anyhows I can not duplicate my original crash so this is information only

regards

Did you click 'Exit OnBoot' before clicking on 'OnDemand'.
What happens if you click 'Exit OnDemand' and then re-click 'OnDemand'?

I have also noticed that items don't always move smoothly between OnDemand and OnBoot,
and visa versa. Switching out and back in to the tab usually clears it up.
