getFlash10.tcz and Mozilla browsers
« on: September 06, 2010, 06:46:22 PM »
When updating any of the Mozilla browsers (firefox.tcz, namoroka.tcz, seamonkey.tcz, firefox-beta.tcz, icecat.tcz, etc) make sure to update your getFlash extension, fetch a new flash with the updated getFlash, and reboot.  I am no longer putting symlinks to the libflashplayer.so in the Mozilla browsers I deal with, but have instead added /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins to the default plugin path.

Also the getFlash extension creates a symlink to the libflashplayer.so in /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins, which is a /usr/local compatible place for extensions to put their mozilla plugins.  To make the getflash extension compatible with mozilla browsers that have not had their default plugin path adjusted, like one you download from mozilla and unpack yourself, the resulting flash10.tcz that is made from the getFlash extension will create a /usr/lib/mozilla directory if one does not exist, and also create a symlink /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins that points to /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins.

Flash is really very important for a browser...

I've managed fine without it for the last three years or so..
