iwconfig missing from TC 3.0
« on: August 08, 2010, 12:12:39 PM »
I just installed TC 3.0 on a Fujitsu Lifebook P1120.   When I tried to check for the Prism2 Wifi NIC (need a module for that, too, it seems) with iwconfig per the wifi installation how-to doc, the command was not found, even when I tried it with sudo.

TIA,
rokky

Hi,
iwconfig is in the wireless_tools.tcz extension.   If there are any other commands that you are looking for, you can use http://www.tinycorelinux.com/cgi-bin/whatprovides3x.cgi Type in the command name and it will tell you which extension provides it.

Please use appsbrowser's Provides to seek such information.

wireless modules should be automatically downloaded as a dependency with wireless_tools.tcz.
The orinoco or hostap driver should both work for a Prism2.

Thanks, all.  I should have seen that bit about iwconfig being included with the wireless tools extension - was jumping around in the doc too much (getting ADD as I get older ;-)

Robert, where is "appsbrowser"? [Never mind - finding/reading more docs, I see it is available within TC, but that is a sort of Catch-22 in needing TC running to see how to modify it (at least for networking that is  pre-req to everything that is obtained over the network).  Guess I should look around to see if its equivalent function is on these TC-related websites?]

TIA,
Rory
