General TC > Tiny Core on Virtual Machines
TC3-Alpha on VMware

Just thought I would let people know that I was able to install tinycore_3.0alpha3 under VMware Server 2.0.
This was only on the ide hard drive setup. Works fine so far. Also tested pxe boot and it appears to work ok.

Forgot to mention, I saw in here that TC would not make a good host OS, can I get some background why. With some additional packages it couldn't?

First is Xen-specific (requires a patched kernel just for that), the second mention just says there aren't other virtualization extensions than Qemu (KVM) available in the repo. Now we do have Virtualbox as well.
There's nothing stopping anyone from using TC as a host; all it takes is to install the desired VM and deps. VMWare stuff can't be redistributed IIRC, but users can grab it directly from VMWare.

If lxc is enabled in the kernel, and the lxc tools are compiled, TC would also make a fine VPS server.
Unfortunately lxc documentation is pretty scarce at the moment.
I have converted all my OpenVZ clients to lxc under F12.
