What kind of problem did you have and did you get it resolved?

Okay, what error message did you paste in? And did you bother first reading the wiki, FAQ, and other documentation before asking more general sorts of questions? Did you search the forums first?

lucky13, the guy just had a mobbing experience in IRC. It is not necessary to add another one on top of that. "Did you bother ..." what kind of welcome is that ...

@Frank: How about reading the whole thread first? First his gripe was about reaction after he pasted an error message to the channel and then it turned into "just installing on an old laptop and wanted a quick run through." Look at what I asked before "Did you bother..." to which he gave the answer about wanting a run-through: What kind of problem and did you get it resolved?

I was trying to help here if I could. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother because I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.

(edit) PS: Did he sign up only to complain about IRC or to get some help he didn't get there or elsewhere?

I saw no mobbing experience.
I saw upera ask a question and leave.
I saw upera come back later, make a few comments that could be considered a question or not.

No answer within a few minutes doesn't mean it's rude.  If it happens that you find that offensive for this medium, you could stick with the forums, etc.

I haven't used the IRC and so can't comment on that, but I've generally found the forum is very helpful. As ^thehatsrule^ said it may take some time to get a reply.
