LiveCD and netcard

Hi everybody,

I am just in doubt to migrate to TC from DSL. I do not have, until now, an answer.

I am trying to see how TC is working with a LiveCD; first try first issue: it do noting with the netcard. I tryed something with ifconfig but I had no result.

After some more tries I left the GUI for console and here I tryed again the same commands that I did with ifconfig but now appears something new:

first TC user:

~$ ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.25 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 up nohdcp
     ifconfig:SIOCSIFADDR:Permission denied

second with sudo:

~$ sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.25 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 up nohdcp
     e100:eth0:e100_request_firmware:Failed to load firmware "e100/d101s_ucode.bin":-2
     ifconfig:SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory

The very same hardware is working fine with DSL kernel 2.4.31.
My wish is to have kernel 2.6. but DSL do not have it.

Any ideas?
