from root: I have done alsamixer to unmute everything; alsactl store to save it to /etc/asound.state; verified that it did indeed save it; added etc/asound.state to .filetool.lst; verified it is in mydata.tgz; yet when I boot I always have to do alsamixer again to unmute it.
Why won't the state persist?
