to the context menu of thunar (right click menu):
open thunar->configure custom actions->add
-Enter a name and a brief description
-Command: sudo mousepad %f (or any text editor)

thunar-archive plugin is tested with file-roller and squeeze if you see error message "can't find a suitable archive manager" while extracting or creating archive please run this command "sudo update-desktop-database" i have added this command to the startup script of squeeze but not yet for file-roller
