Jur, your explanation makes a lot of sense, I see exactly what you're talking about now. Am I experiencing this because my netbook is having trouble keeping up or is it like that for everyone?

Lee, reducing the zoom to 1.3 is not only more aesthetically pleasing but solved the artifacts., thanks!

Don't know whether it is happening to everybody, but my VBox install (in OSE version) has it.
Alt-clicking removes the artifact, but doesn't solve anything.

Still, it's not fatal, and I'm not going to select other settings just to accommodate a nuisance bug. I'll just swat at it with the mouse and make it go away :-)
