I guess Xfbdev would go as Xvesa?

most of the time I use "Xvesa (>= 256 MB)" but it's not uncommon for me to use the other two Xvesa choices as well.

@curaga: yep sounds reasonable ;) I just don't wanted to complicate the the vote with all possible options of standalone vs. extensible Xorg...

Running TC/MC on multiple boxes, so I voted for the laptop that is my daily user which I use Xorg inside VirtualBox with the additions installed.  I only give the VM 256MB ram and typically use only 75-100MB.  Another laptop runs TC on bare metal with Xvesa on 256MB and an old desktop runs MC on 160MB.  The desktop has Xvesa available, but I boot it into text mode usually.

Text mode is also an alternative. This is what I use for my webserver.

On my older <=600mhz boxes I would use Xorg to speed up the display.

But now that I use p4 boxes almost exclusively, I simply use Xvesa and the fast processor provides very decent video performance.  Good enough as I don't do gaming and things like that.  It is good to have choice, and Xvesa is my normal choice.

Xorg is the only way I can get my external 1600x900 monitor to display correctly but I lament the long time it takes to bring up the display.
