Arslan S.:
qt-4.5-base depends on expat2, fontconfig & glib2
also what in this package actually depends on openssl ? i don't think it is qt-4.5-base
Mario:
I copied an executable in /home/tc named helloworld but I can't execute
it with ./ nor with a: sh , that exec. runs well on any ubuntu with ./,
I installed qt-4.2.2, qt-4.5. but here it shows: Syntax error: "(" unexpected
I tried other very simple execs with the same result.
I tried adding in /home/tc/.profile the following:
export QTDIR=usr/local/lib/qt-4.2.2:usr/local/lib/qt-4.2.2/bin
export PATH=$QTDIR/bin:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib/qt-4.2.2/lib
and a symlink in /usr/lib pointing to /usr/local/lib/qt-4.2.2
What am I missing? :(
gerald_clark:
Dynamically linked executables are generally not transferrable between different systems.
Jason W:
I don't see qt-4.2.2 as a dependency of any apps. I think we should only have one version of qt4 in the repo, and everyone is seemingly using 4.5. By having both qt-4.2.2 and qt-4.5 installed, and then exporting library paths to qt-4.2.2's install path may cause trouble with the mixed libs and headers.
My preference would be to retire qt-4.2.2 from the repo in favor of qt-4.5 which is the actively maintained qt4 extension set.
