« on: January 28, 2010, 02:10:59 AM »
I observed that on one of  my old system Intel810e m/b ( in-built ac97), alsa.tcz , OSS.tcem works flawlessly w/o any twaking frommy side, but OSS.tcz refuse to recognize my ac97 h/w . What can be the reason ?

Please post ossinfo from that machine, from both OSS.tcem and OSS.tcz boots. Also, make sure alsa isn't loaded at the same time.

Is your OSS.tcz up to date?

/tmp/tcloop/oss40 is installed with all its sub-dir sturcture.

/usr/local/tce.installed has oss40 .

Note: There is diff in build numbers. I have not tried more recent version than this if available.
Both OSS versions installed after dnloadinf , and NOT thru Appbrowser.

Why are you now trying to run the older OSS40.tcz when the newer OSS.tcz was working previously?

Uh, Oh ! And I was thinking .tce .tcem etc are depricated and the .tcz is the newer in-thing !
I am using OSS.tcem succesfully - and so I said - I observed... - . :)
Just technically curious - why OSS40.tcz not working !

Please try OSS.tcz as well, it's the same build your tcem was, not an older one. The ac97/hd-audio standards are pretty lax, implementations differ, so I think there may have been fixes related to that.
