tce-update blowing chunks on *.md5.txt -- solved
« on: January 01, 2010, 12:47:40 AM »
Running TCL 2.7, but this started happening in 2.6 I think.

running tce-update from the menu does nothing visible.
running tce-update from a root shell appears to throw the same error on every .tcz* extension (output pasted into pastebin.ca)
running tce-update from "base norestore text" does the same thing

Since I pasted the output *from* TCL into pastebin.ca it is demonstratably true that I have a functioning network connection.  It may not have a connection to whatever tce-update is talking to.

I assume I am missing something obvious, but my google-fu and forum-search-fu have not yet paid off.

I am very open to suggestions, taunts, etc.

=== a few moments later ===

Hmmm, I went into /mnt/sda1/tce and found .txt files with non-current dates.  I rm'ed all the .txt files and now tce-update runs without errors but there are no new .txt files.  Hmmm.  I wonder if this means I am up to date or if I have screwed the pooch.

Or both.  Hmmm. It survived a reboot so it couldn't be that busted...

Could it be that you've missed to rename your extensions (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=4395.0)?

Looks that way.   I ASSumed that thread was about the recent tce->tcz migration (which I did by hand because I didn't see the script --- arghhh).

Tried the renaming script in the mentioned thread.   Extensions fail to load at reboot because they look for dependencies with the old name.  Tce-update appears to do nothing to alter the situation, and the mentioned tce-notify is not found.   I suspect I am not reading closely enough to make the migration work right.

I manually deleted all extensions and reinstalled them.  Seems to be working now.  Thanks for the help.
