Dillo2

(1/1)

Jason W:
Thanks to Xentalion we have Dillo2:

--- Code: ---Title:          dillo2.tce
Description:    Dillo 2  (TESTING)
Version:        2.0
Author:         The Dllo Team
Original-site:  http://www.dillo.org
Copying-policy: GPL 3
-----------------------------------------------------
Extension by:   Xentalion
Comments:       Dillo 2 will probably complain about
missing the DejaVu fonts, but this shouldn't
affect it's stability. The fonts can be installed
from the dejavu-fonts-ttf.tce
Change-log:
Current:        2009/01/14 Original

--- End code ---

This extension depends on fontconfig and expat (.dep should be added!) :(
The dillo executable alone is nearly 3Mb :(
I hope it may be possible to make a build a light version of Dillo without those dependencies. If not this makes Dillo no longer suitable for very light or embedded or light systems.

A few more remarks on this Dillo version 2:
* still blazing fast
* layout rendering of web pages hasn't improved
* the interface is wasting space with its layout
* can't login with it in the TC forum :(
* it's funny to see this good old Dillo... with a new face

There seems to be a icon problem: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=507

I'm going to guess, since it uses FLTK2 and TC has FLTK1, that most of the size might be statically linked FLTK2 .

hats: Ditto on the 'icon' problem - the /usr/local/tce.icons/dillo2 needs a CR at the end. Easy to fix and repack. I've fixed that, but to where should I submit it? Xentalion doesn't seem to have a forum account.

That said - thanks for the extension, Xentalion :) Despite any concerns about the size/deps of Dillo, it's brisk and functional. Sits nicely b/t chimera and firefox/minefield. I'll look forward to Dillo having CSS handling in the next release.
