Xorg screen freezes with LVDS off
« on: December 20, 2009, 11:57:15 PM »
I have begun to play around with my screens (EeePC 1000HE netbook with 1600x900 external monitor).

I have scripted one of the hot-keys to cycle through switching the combinations of monitors on and off.

However, at about the same time, and also just at the same time as starting to use tc-2.7, I am getting screen freezes. I would be busy doing anything, in X, and suddenly it freezes (the mouse cursor still moves). But no action at all. I can still exit X with ctl-alt-backspace, and restart X but it will freeze again after a little while, so it appears to be X that is the culprit.

I have not seen this before.

Is there any hint of xrandr in Xorg being a problem? (I still have to check if it freezes without using xrandr.)

After more tests it seems the freezing problem arises when I have the netbook screen set to off. Within a very short time (less than a minute usually) it freezes, very repeatably. It does it with using xrandr but also when setting it to off via xorg.conf.

So it seems an Xorg bug, not xrandr.

Tried with tc-2.6.1, same behaviour.
