right click on a file of the type you want to associate, click on "properties" tab to "file associations"

there are three boxes "open" "edit" "view" just type the name of binary inside boxes

it is enough to do it once, after you have associated you can double left-click on the files

These settings in File Associations open a document for read only?
Open: /usr/local/oo2/program/viewdoc
View: oowriter
Edit:  oowriter

just type "soffice" inside "Open" textbox
and "soffice -view" inside "View" textbox
