Xorg vesa no go?
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:22:22 PM »
On my machine, the standard Xvesa runs fine, but when I install the Xorg package
I get a 'fatal server error' when I try to run Xorg. I use the vesa driver, so it can't get simpler than this...
Can somebody look at the attached Xorg.0.log and point me in the right direction to fix this problem?

I want to add a touchscreen to my machine running TC so I need Xorg, staying with Xvesa will not work.

sure, I have followed the advise in the wiki. If you look at the logfile you will see the problem lies somewhere else.

What video hardware are you using?

My hardware (a fit-pc2) has a GMA500 graphics chip and a standard keyboard and mouse attached.

If you google "gma500 xorg.conf", posts like http://www.happyassassin.net/2009/08/10/intel-gma500-poulsbo-on-fedora-11-repository-with-working-3d-compiz-support/comment-page-2/ seem to be suggesting you need "Option      "IgnoreACPI"" in xorg.conf?
