netgear wg511 - does it work?
« on: September 11, 2009, 09:21:18 AM »
i have to use a cardbus pcmcia card adaptor for wifi (netgear wg511); i have grabed the firmware for it, and what was particular, i must unload the prism54 (sudo rmmod prism54) driver coming with the wireless extension of tc in order for this specific card to use the p54pci driver. netgear wg511 seems to work (iwconfig outputs a wlan0 device ready to be configured), but my problem is: i don't see any wifi networks in my area when typing: iwlist wlan0 scanning (just in order to see if the cardbus detects networks; i don't have a wifi router or equivalent). Can someone who has the same cardbus tel me if it's working for him/her?
