downloading videos varies depending on where they are hosted.

here are a couple links to get you started on your journey.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youtube-dl#yt-dlp_fork

https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp#readme

sometimes curl is enough:

https://curl.se/

curl-dev.tcz
curl-doc.tcz
curl.tcz
Which one please?

There dose not seam to be much point continuing with this OS if most of the programs do not work!

Its blatently obvius that it cant find the video from the link (the link dose work in a browser you know). whiles there was another option at the bottom of the page saying try someone ells, i could not be bothered with it!

See the only reason that I am wanting to do this is because the sound dose not work on this OS! But I found an HDD the other day and booted it up and it had linux mint OS installed. internet and sound working, went to youtube and it said I had to upgrade the (firefox) browser. Could not do it as all the links where bent and currup as bill gates. So I went to the internet icons where I found some kind of chat box terminal program. Got on there said what the problem was was told to upgrade browser, dont know how to, then see code to terminal to find out which OS and browser I was using, I was told its out dated and was told to download a stupid 3GB file that is incompatile with my machine and I was told that you will no longer be able to use linux mint with a 32 bit machine (hile hitler) and that i would have to dispose of my baddy evil machine and I would have to purchase the latest singing and dancing new machine to paticipate in there S@@tA##s little game! I said shall I just format the HDD and put win-xp on it or something like that. and was told that win-xp is so out dated that it will never work! how is that then I asked? because the browsers are that outdated that they will never work and no one is making any more 32 bit stuff for anymore (then that just shows you how very little you know little man dosent it?) so i directed them to this https://www.xpforums.com/threads/list-of-browsers-that-work-in-windows-xp.935106/ Then it was no no no! that post is over 2 years old and will be out of date browsers. Then I pointed out to them the 4th one on the list and to follow the link https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/releases oh look! latest released browser was only a few days ago. I was then told to keep the discussion on topic, then they banned me from the chat! I rejoined the chat and said YOU ARE A C##T! (with out the ## in it LOL!). I was then proper proper banned and could not get back in again. as I dont know anything about the chat program and better things to do, think i will just forget about it!

But to sum it all up. They know very little over there at linux mint more then likelly because there is little to know, the hole mint is a ubuntu copy cat from there original kernal. probably even just about everything except from the graphics

But they think they know it all! they think that windows is all ran and controlled by uncle Bill and there are no such thing as windows enthusiasts who do the same thing with old and abandoned windows programs, that you lot do with linux, except they just abandon it over there at mint! because there masters and controllers over at ubuntu say so (its part of the program you know)

So that is why I wanted the YT download i mentioned in the OP. So I could download hear and watch over there in VCL media player where there is working sound
