appbrowser local and optional directories
« on: August 27, 2009, 04:17:22 PM »
The directory location when using "Install Local" changes to the same location as "Install Optional"

How to reproduce:
Open appbrowser
Use "Install Optional" from File menu and install an extension
Use "Install Local"

The Local directory is changed to the Optional directory. IMO the local TCE directory should only change if the actual tce location changes, i.e. the /etc/sysconfig/tce.mount file changes

Can't have it both ways. The requested feature was to have appbrowser retain from where is was last used to load an extension. It does not change the default download location. Only manual loading,
Perhaps having the menu opton of "install optional" should be dropped. Would that make it less confusing?

Dropping that would be fine, less confusion plus right now they both do the same thing. I thought only the "Install Optional" would go to the last location where the "Install Local" would always return to the default tce location.

OK. I will drop the install optional menu item in the next RC for 2.3.

Perhaps (no doubt...) I'm being dense, but why couldn't "load optional" stay at /tce/optional and "load local" stay at wherever the last extension was loaded from with "load local"?

I now think it is less confusing with it removed.
No point in locking one load option down and the other load opton allowed to "float"
