Web Rendering Proxy - Surfing The Web With Ancient Browsers
« on: January 05, 2019, 06:28:51 AM »
Interesting idea. Script that render web pages to graphic file. Something like Opera Mini. But unfortunately I cannot run it.

Here's another interesting example.

Both of those links use python scripts to create the web site images.

None of the various webkit extensions in tinycore have python wrappers, so I doubt things would work  :(

WebkitFLTK can do that, it's what Fifth's screenshot menu option does. I don't remember if it works without X though. You can edit the testapp to save such a png of the site passed.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

I tested wrp in TC 4.x. It require pyqt.tcz and qt-4.x-webkit.tcz
Then you need to set up http proxy adress in your web browser with your ip adres x.x.x.x and port 8080.
It doesn't work with https but maybe in the future this will be changed.

There's a new version but it works only with Docker that is available only on 64-bit.

Simmilar project:, mostly for Windows platform:

FixProxy is http to https proxy that you can use with very old web browser.

You simply run fixproxy (64-bit) or fixproxy32 in terminal, and type http://localhost:8080/
in your ancient web browser.
https://www.fixbrowser.org

There's also version for HaikuOS (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows (32-bit) (2000/XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10/11).

[EDIT]: Modified link due to forum policy violation. fixproxy can be
downloaded from the above link.  Rich

Hi neonix
I'm sorry but I had to modify your reply #11. The link
was modified and a note was added about fixproxy.
