Are you building on one RPi or using your multiple RPi hive thing?

If you're using multiple RPi, do you have a swap file/partition for each one?

I'm building on my cluster.

Each one has its own swap partition.

6GB for the pi 3Bs
12GB for a pi4 helper
40GB for the pi4 I'm working on.

Mozilla themselves seem to have stopped native 32-bit builds in 2015 due to this, so may not be much luck now.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Another day with no luck :P

Does that mean cross-compiling is the way ?

I've never tried cross-compiling, that would be new to me.

Any suggestions so I could get started ?

CLFS shows the basics, but it's a hard topic, and CLFS wouldn't directly apply to cross-building for an existing setup.
