in was not in dispute kernel or tiny-core accessibility (.. for now). I think you could not access the "kernels" from China new government software/hardware from USA places, as an example.
in "dispute" was (.. if you would have read the comments in Phoronix forum) who could CONTRIBUTE to the kernel and who own the infrastructure of the software (the servers).
1. if the servers are in a country with restriction on software (IP intellectual "property" bullshit, strong cryptography, etc) this is BAD!
2. any bad state actor (software developer) can try to put back-doors in software/kernel without [stupidly] taking pride he/she is from Russia /China. They could identify themself as from USA/Australia (why not).
3. if the reason to deny access to development is just that Linux is used in software for bombs, then ANY country that make bombs should be forbidden access to kernel? Anyway this is bullish because it is too late for billion of bombs (future / already) made when bad actors have free access to linux kernel advancement, even not contributing to its development.
Many ideas are ready in the Phoronix forum, it is no point to repeat them here. My virtual guilty is ... that I just shared a a link.
