TC is like a Subway sandwich. You can choose bread, meal, salad, cheese and topping as you wish. Enjoy freedom  ;)

It looks like SliTaz's pizzas are never arriving. Anybody knows why?

The pizza cooker is long gone afaik.

It also had a tendency to be abused by those making 50 iso's a night with high-speed access.  The only difference is that one would have the nano editor, and when they wanted geany, they would make the entire cooker again, rather than install it the normal way.

So, kinda like here with the old wiki - key people and maintainers move on, and the data can get old.  One has to hit the forums to keep up to date from some of the original crew still around.

I haven't visited lately, but last time I looked they were still on kernel 3.18, and the 64-bit modern versions are user-specific projects.

The pizza cooker is long gone afaik.
Many, including myself, have no storage problem nowadays. What is in demand, is functionality (one doesn't need to delve into complicated scripts if web or GUI interfaces exist). I would lovely replicate the whole pizza cooker(s) + @lexeii's "badges" system on my machine if sources and setup instructions would be available (they should have stated that theirs is gone at least in the news [which is a blog]). I'm afraid this last active SliTaz developer might have been (unthinkable) affected by the ongoing war if he is unheard for so long… Another experienced SliTaz maintainer, Stanislas Leduc (shann), was last active in May. And the project founder, the Swiss French guy Christophe Lincoln (pankso) recently in September came to update the SliTaz Next Cooker, separately from the regular SliTaz Cooker. The SliTaz-official development looks like it has moved to Github, back-synchronizing with their old Mercurial.

Also SliTaz's old approach with unchangeable libc and kernel has trapped them in a vicious circle. They cannot now move on because changing the soname of libc fells the whole software tree suddenly down. The only option left is to rebuild SliTaz from scratch. The most recent, successful and modern approach is being undertaken by the German guy, Nils Christiansen (@Filou), in their "Slitaz future?" thread. Alas, he is taken by possible health and family issues at the moment, and asked for some patience to bear with him [a (nine) month(s) ago]. He, however, had invited a forum user to join him on Github. Not to spam his email, one can always found it, to ask for an invite, in the MAINTAINER section of the appstream receipt (peer inside), if anybody is curious about it.

TinyCoreLinux is distribution that's ahead of its times.

Last version of Slitaz with Xvesa, was 3.0 xvesa flavor. TC will live as long as Xvesa will be usable.
In TC you don't have to waste time to upgrade packets list.
Xorg don't support many hardware even with vesa or fbdev driver and is main problem why Linux is not so popular. Many minidistros are in stagnation becouse there no innovations that makes Linux user freandly.
The only thing I miss in TC, is non-live-cd mode like in Debian. I can install Debian with Xvesa but it require huge hdd space.
BTW. I want one button installation of mirrors.tcz in appbrowser.
