See this related thread: http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=2526.0

In short, try TC 1.x for now.  Or try building another kernel

This link will help: http://wiki.tinycorelinux.com/tiki-index.php?page=Custom+Kernel
I don't know what it is about SiS chipsets that causes these kernel panics. They appear to be common on that hardware.

In Tiny Core, install means "install to RAM." After a reboot, it is gone. If you want to install programs to the hard drive, you must create a tce/ directory in the root directory of the hard drive. Then, when you boot up, Tiny Core will look in this directory for installed programs. Any new programs you install will be put in this directory and be automatically loaded when you boot up.
