stumbled across Cassidy Williams and wanted to share

her visit to the white house:
https://cassidoo.co/post/post-white-house/

and the reason for posting to the "bad day" thread:
https://cassidoo.co/post/c-section/

mostly just enjoyed her candid sharing of her experience, to wit:
Quote
Content warning: I’m gonna be talking about surgery, babies, bodies, fluids, shots, the works. If you get queasy reading such things, you should probably stop reading now.

humble fyi - please note that i am not suggesting that children/childbirth/etc is somehow inherently "bad" - it just isn't something that anyone would want to go through on a daily basis.

more: perhaps a greater appreciation is due to our mothers(and probably approximately 50 percent of all the currently existing humans)

speaking of all the humans(over 8 billion currently):

also see:

perhaps some restraint is in order:

wonder what Bram Moolenaar(RIP-2023) thought about all the humans?

I enjoyed the articles as well and can't help but wonder at how things have changed in a couple of dozen years.  When my twins were born, the wife almost came to blows (it seemed) with one the neonate doctors who insisted the boys needed to be bottle fed.  Fortunately, the midwife and lactation consultant both backed up my wife and no bottles were used.  The boys turned out ok after all.

My wife, an RN, didn't just randomly decide to breastfeed.  She did due diligence in reading studies of actual outcomes regarding the health of breast fed vs. bottle fed babies, and spoke with multiple other mothers on both sides of that discussion and made an informed decision.  That breast feeding is being encouraged nowadays is, in my opinion, a very good thing indeed.  And, while, being a man, I have no first hand experience with this... I don't remember the wife, as a rule, complaining about discomfort in breastfeeding - though of course there were a few occasions when it didn't go just right.  FYI - breast feeding's also a -lot- cheaper.

thanks for sharing Leee! hope you're all doing well.

unless there is a very good reason not to breastfeed, that is almost always the best way.
better for the mothers, better for the babies, and for various reasons better for the planet.
