Hi Rich !! nice hear from you !
My next step will be to uncheck some routines in "About:config"
so Firefox is not calling home all the time . In FF-87 I had one profile created
with lots of unchecked stuff , it worked fine , after upgrade unfortunatelly
Ive lost it . I will go again this route , maybe this could give me more room
to keep more Tabs open in my Old-Timer Pentium M .
for those who are unaware ( and need to trim RAM & Bandwidth usage ) ,
this is done as follows in Firefox
- open new tab , type About:config ,check "show all "
- uncheck routines as per Firefox site (
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections )
- save this profile ( About:Profiles )
- to change profiles ( and give you back the routines you have unchecked if you have any site
not working like it should ) , just open new tab , go to About:profiles , and select a fresh profile instead the one you created
this way you can quickly change Firefox from a full RAM & Bandwidth -hunger app to a "lite" version
(avoid playing animations , avoid prefetech and store pages , avoid telemetry , etc )
( forget about it if you have a nice machine / full internet access not charged by the Mb you use ... like me .... )
regards
