Well, if there is an issue in the future I now have a screenshot that might help as far as tinycore.com is concerned (says "Releasing in summer 2009", which is much later than TC).

I don't think much can be done about TinyCore Pictures, since it's apparently been around for 5 years.  We could argue legal technicalities, but if you want to be honest you have to accept that the Tiny Core name was not unique to TC when TC was created.  This kind of thing happens to me all the time, and it's terribly frustrating...I think of something clever, and then do a web search, and 99% of the time someone else has already thought of it and put it online.  The other 1% is likely to have also already been done but just not indexed by Google =op

they probably play with the little difference between Tiny Core Linux and Tinycore; on the other side, it shows that 'tiny core' becomes more successful as label on the web; it maybe could redirect potential users to TCL, so yes frustrating, but not absolutely bad for the project
