Is there a piCore 12 browser that works well with the Forum?
« on: November 01, 2020, 10:59:30 AM »
Hi,

I tried dillo and it will not allow me to post or modify. Cutting and pasting in Linux is not fun for a a non-Linux guy, but it's an adventure  8)

Any suggestions for a browser available in the piCore 12 repo? I'm not too picky!

Hi EversteelE
The only thing I see is:
http://tinycorelinux.net/12.x/armv6/tcz/links.tcz.info
I've never used it so I can't comment on its suitability.

Thank you, Rich... for now, I'll choose expediency.

I thought a browser would be an easy remedy, but since that was not forthcoming... I installed x11vnc and voila! Install was smooth (kudos to you guys) and I can easily get my code/shell samples/examples over to the forum post.

I will have to revisit the browser conundrum and see if I can muster the know-how or monkey-see monkey-do creating a browser .tcz, after all... That the spirit, right?!  8)

epiphany and firefox are available in the armv7 and aarch64 repos, but I presume you are looking for armv6?

Hi Juanito
He mentioned  "RPi Zero W"  in his Bluetooth thread.

Thank you both for trying!

Yes, RPi0 W. From the RPi Site, https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bcm2835/README.md

BCM2835 chip (ARM1176JZF-S processor), this is the Broadcom chip used in the Raspberry Pi Model A, B, B+, the Compute Module, and the Raspberry Pi Zero.

The ARM1176JZF-S processor incorporates an integer core that implements the ARM11 ARM architecture v6 (ARMv6). It supports the ARM and Thumb instruction sets, Jazelle technology to enable direct execution of Java bytecodes, and a range of SIMD DSP instructions that operate on 16-bit or 8-bit data values in 32-bit registers.

I didn't know the technical difference between ARMv6 & ARMv7, so I had to do some research.  I think the PPi4 uses a chip which is even ARMv8 capable.

I posted a somewhat lengthy response/explanation for others that might need the help, you guys already know all this.

Peace!
