Wrong date in repository WEB
« on: July 08, 2009, 03:31:33 AM »
There are strange date entries in both 2.x/1.x and tce/tcz repository tables on the WEB. In few cases date is missing, format is inconsistent or date is not displayed properly (see trunctated day in many cases) compared to date in .info file.

The proper date format is 2009/01/01 for Jan 1 2009.  (YYYY/MM/DD)

The existing info files will be corrected, and be sure to use the above format when submitting extensions.  I will add this info to the guidelines.

Jason,

Just talking about my extensions, for example in acpi.tce.info date is:

Current:      2009/07/03 First version

but displayed as

2009/07/0

Similar with bind.tcel.info where

Current:      2009/06/16 First version

but in the repo list

2009/06/1

Again, last digit is missing.

And so on, but I'm not the only one, see audacious.tcel published by you. In these cases date format is correct as you defined.

I see some of my date fields are not standard, I sometimes live and learn.

As for those that are the correct format and are still not showind up right, using the tab key to create the space instead of the space bar seems to correct that.  I tested with the filezilla extension info file.

Thanks for addressing this.  I will add the tab key part in the guidelines post as well.

Would be better to allow whitespace, both tab and normal space. Depending on editor used to create .info tab maybe authomatically converted to space by the editor. I do not know how the HTML page created but nearly all languages have nice string functions for that.

This issue has been corrected, no need to worry about tab or space, only proper date format.

some of the info files will need to be updated (a lot of mine) since the leading 0s are now required for the date format

Thanks, but don't worry about it.  I can log into ibiblio and edit the files, and I will do that soon.
