Restore a backup file

I failed with moving files and directories and I need to restore my backup file to fix my disaster.

What command did you use to do your backups?

Where are the backups?

To do a backup you only needs type the command backup into a terminal, or filetools.sh -b too.

Finally I looked the restoring of backup after restart the computer, but the result it wasn´t polite. I will need to set up again some configurations I lost.

Anyway, it would be good to know how we can restoring a backup`s file without to do one restart.

IMHO, this type of backup's main purpose is the restore config files (and home directory) to give persistence between reboots. I wouldn't rely on it for your only "backup" because it gets regularly overwritten.

There is a bootcode "safebackup" to keep a copy of previous mydata.tgz

mydata.tgz is automatically restored every time you reboot (as designed).

If I manage to fix my configuration I will have to create some kind of shell script that saves all the essentials.
