Wine
« on: May 10, 2019, 09:48:24 PM »
Nice distro, I'm wondering if there is a recent version of wine and tricks available. I have a few apps that requires them.

There is a wine extension in the 32-bit repo, which is version 4.7.0.

There is also a winetricks extension, but this is an older version, 1.9.21.

I can't figure out how to open my exe with wine. Usually I just right click and open with wine. Sorry for all these little questions.

Hi zacmario
I've never used wine myself, but the  .info  file states:
Quote
Code: [Select]
Comments: This requires Xorg for 3D, included cups, sane, ssl support. Steps:

1. winecfg, let download gecko engine (maybe takes some time), if you need it
2. In winecfg under Graphics uncheck 'Allow window manager to control windows'
3. wine myapp.exe
So maybe step 3 is what you need to do?

:-\ I tried that. It keeps looking in system32 folder
Usually I can just right click the file and open with wine.

Did you download gecko and mono as per the info file?

I installed gecko, but not mono. Mono will bug out a future install of dotnet by winetricks. Oh though winetricks doesn't seem to be new enough to do that.

I installed mono, but the few applications I want won't open or associate themselves with wine. I also wondered if anyone plans on bringing the newer winetricks over to TCL, I have a few applications that won't run with mono and requires dotnet(winetricks makes that installation 10x easier.)
