Core v9.0rc1
« on: February 19, 2018, 02:03:38 AM »
Team Tiny Core is pleased to announce that Tiny Core 9.0 rc1 is available for public testing:

http://repo.tinycorelinux.net/9.x/x86/release_candidates/
http://repo.tinycorelinux.net/9.x/x86_64/release_candidates/

This is a release candidate. If you decide to help test, then please test carefully. We don't want anyone to lose data.

We appreciate testing and feedback.

If you use distribution files note that you need a new vmlinuz and core.gz (or rootfs.gz + modules.gz)

Changelog for 9.0 rc1:
* kernel updated to 4.14.10
* glibc updated to 2.26
* gcc updated to 7.2.0
* e2fsprogs base libs/apps updated to 1.43.7
* util-linux base libs/apps updated to 2.31
* /lib/udev permissions corrected in x86_64
* ldd: add --version function, from andyj
* scsi_transport_fc.ko.gz moved to base
* os-release: os release data, from andyj

Note that there is a pending issue in that the 32-bit busybox mv will not move broken symlinks - this seems to be caused by updated versions of gcc and/or glibc.

***
The Meltdown vulnerability affecting Intel processors affects this version. As long as you only run code you trust, there is no issue to test. Intel had released a microcode fix and some oem had issued bios updates containing the fix, but they now appear to have been pulled.
