« on: January 21, 2018, 06:00:03 AM »
Hello everybody,

I downloaded Tiny Core Plus version 8.2.1, wrote to the CD, tried to run on the old laptop and got an error. The previous version of 7 works fine on it.

Part of the message from the console:

Decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF... No relocation needed... done.
Booting the kernel.

sh: ../sysdeps/x86/cacheinfo.c:262: handle_intel: Assertion `maxidx >=2` failed.

Kernel Offset: disabled
Rebooting in 60 seconds..

That is a glibc bug, specifically affecting older processors only. If you google the message, you can pinpoint the affected versions; it's also been mentioned here before. We generally do not change such core components in a release, and anyway 9.x is already underway.

Please use either version 7 or 9.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
