No Xvesa in corepure64 repo?
« on: January 07, 2018, 12:26:53 AM »
Just wondering - noticed that the Corepure64 8.2.1 iso defaults to using xfbdev.  (as well as the 9.0 alpha but won't go into that now).

Looked at the onboot.lst and sure enough xfbdev seems to be the default.  Would like to try Xvesa before going all out to Xorg.

But I don't see any Xvesa available in the app repo to upgrade to.  Sure I could go xorg, but I want to make that grayed-out button in the control panel light up. :)

Is there a technical reason that Xvesa is not available for corepure64?

Hi PDP-8
Regarding Xvesa, I found this:

Forgot to ask: Why no xvesa for 64bit?

It's not possible to execute VESA bios calls in 64-bit mode. Xorg's vesa driver has an emulator, so it is able to do it nowadays.

Also, your understanding of the lists is correct. The ISOs just have a different setup you'd usually have.
