Sorry for the silly question, but how does one use the pre-imported SCEs?

I did not even know they existed, as the link from http://tinycorelinux.net/ports.html ("Prebuilt Extensions") is pointing to a different directory.

The prebuilt extensions are in the directories contained under:

http://tinycorelinux.net/dCore/x86_64/sce/
and
http://tinycorelinux.net/dCore/x86/sce/

They are loaded with sce-load, for example:

wget http://tinycorelinux.net/dCore/x86_64/sce/dCore-bionic64/wireless-4.14.10-tinycore64.sce
sce-load wireless-4.14.10-tinycore64.sce

wget http://tinycorelinux.net/dCore/x86_64/sce/dCore-bionic64/wireless.sce
sce-load wireless.sce

The main reason for the prebuilt extensions is to allow folks to set up wireless without having to use dCorePlus images.  As in downloading the prebuilt SCEs on another system and placing them on a USB so it can be used on a newly installed dCore.  Or using wired network access to download the prebuilt wireless SCEs and then setting up wireless.  Once network access is achieved, then one can import the wireless and wireless-$kernelversion packages with the "sce-import -b" option so they will be loaded on boot.

Also, I noticed that virtualbox-5.2.x modules are only available for kernel 4.14.10 (bionic). Is there an easy way to build them on 4.8.17 (stretch)?

corwin.amber, dCore-stretch64 does not have Virtualbox in it's repo as it has been removed from Debian's main package section.  There is in the dCore prebuilt area:

virtualbox-qt-5.1.30-stretch64

and it's kernel modules are:

virtualbox-5.1.30-host-modules-4.8.17-tinycore64
virtualbox-5.1.30-guest-additions-modules-4.8.17-tinycore64

Get them with:

sce-import virtualbox-qt-5.1.30-stretch64
sce-import virtualbox-5.1.30-host-modules-4.8.17-tinycore64
sce-import virtualbox-5.1.30-guest-additions-modules-4.8.17-tinycore64

The packages for x86 dCore-stretch are:

virtualbox-qt-5.1.22-stretch
virtualbox-5.1.22-host-modules-4.8.17-tinycore
virtualbox-5.1.22-guest-additions-modules-4.8.17-tinycore
