Amixer not working period.

I had a bash script to set the sound automatically in xenialpup64.

Tried it in dcore and no luck.

So I tried amixer in the terminal. It does nothing.

I do get sound and can modify the level in alsamixer.

Funny thing is if I don't specify the extact card number alsamixer complains.

Could it be the alsa-module. Somehow it is confusing amixer.

Any suggestions?
