Need basic TextUtils: fmt, strings, fold...
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:54:17 PM »
To those who belittle wily as being a mere editor, we read:....
"|", "<" or ">", standard input and output of the command are
set up such that the last selection is:
piped through the command, fed into the command or replaced
by the output of the command, respectively.
But my old scripts using such wilymagic use eg. `fmt`, which I
don't find by mere alphabetical search of <Apps GUI>.

The whole secret of how M$pook was able to dominate/abuse the
market [and cause users to call directories "folders"] was by not
forcing DOS users to lose their knowledge investment:
a.k.a. "backward compatibility".
How do I access my good old scripts, which use `fmt` & strings, fold..?

PS.
As TC evolves: since the initial/default is nonX, wouldn't it be good
to have <needs X> as an attribute of <Apps listings>?
Eg. I want a pdfViewer, without needing to install X11.

?! I've just spotted description of: flwm_topside.tcz - so much to do!

I'm a very heavy user of TestToSpeech, via `festival`, which is a monster
to comile/install. I can't find the simple-binaries-install, like I got
for RPi, but I'd like to be able to use it without needing to chroot to
my old 32bit partition from TC64. It's inconvenient to plug the USBtoIDE,
when TC64 can just run from a USBstik.

Please advise.

This is starting to become a habit with you. Please keep your Microsoft bashing to yourself and instead focus more on keeping
your questions coherent.

If you enter:
Code: [Select]
busyboxat the command line it will list all the commands that are compiled into it, both  fold  and  strings  should show up in the list.
If you install  coreutils.tcz  it includes  fmt  and  fold,  strings can also be found in  binutils.tcz.

There's orca/speech-dispatcher/espeak-ng in the corepure64 repo
