piCore 8.x - armv7 - xorg-proto
« on: January 17, 2017, 11:00:06 AM »
The piCore version of  xorg-proto-dev.tcz  seems to be missing several files when compared to the x86 version (xorg-proto.tcz).

When building Tint2, these where reported to be missing:
Code: [Select]
compositeproto
damageproto
xineramaproto
renderproto

Since  xorg-proto.tcz  from TC-7.x x86 doesn't contain any binaries, I just installed that one on the RPi and Tint2 compiled fine and works.
Adventures me didn't even checked Xorg versions - They differ (1.18.3 vs. 1.18.4). :p
Not sure about xorg-proto though, as the respective .info files both list:
Code: [Select]
Version:        Various

Have the above mentioned files just been MIA or have they been left out on purpose for the RPi?
Can I continue to use  xorg-proto.tcz  from the TC-7.x x86 repo or is that a stupid idea?

They are compatible enough that at most you'll get reduced functionality or compile errors. No sudden crashes or non-working binaries.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Thanks.
Just to be clear, does that mean it would be safe to submit extensions created with slightly off-version xorg-proto?
