apps fail in startx x app browser but load from cli?

I initially did a microcore install and installed extensions with tce command. now im using x more i want to install apps when im in there rather than have to go to the command all the time. but whenever i try they always fail in there. i can access the server but when i click go it immediately says failed.

also how do i get the bottom bar showing installed apps like how it shows in a standard tinycore install. not a big deal but it is convenient.

What did you use to install (Tiny) Core and what is the media you boot from (CD, HDD, USB Stick)?

I used a usb stick and did a manual hd install

Can you only install via command line (tce-load -i ...) or can you also download (tce-load -w ...).
Did you setup a internet connection?

tce-load -w Xvesa Xprogs wbar aterm <and a window manager>
