Scripts to download and convert debian packages
« on: March 31, 2015, 06:32:59 AM »
Hi, Everyone, I made two scripts to download and convert debian packages, may be useful for all of us.
Usage: put them into tce/ondemand, and run "dpm pick" to pick out a fastest mirror,
now you can use "dpm -wi" to get the packages that interest you :)

Hi aswjh.

Trying out v1.1 - thanks for your handiwork.

Mirror, search, config, dependencies, installation, loading worked well.

Like that it keeps it's extensions seperate from Tiny Core but this requires more storage. Leafpad and efax-gtk did not fit in my 100MB parition freespace and failed to install, even when deleting deb files after tcz conversion. Just installed nano, required ~55 MB drive space after deleting the .deb files, most of which is the packages database. Guess installing additional software won't be as much an issue as the base gets fleshed out. Nano works great. Hoping to test this out on heavier software, such as qpdfview.

Is it possible to specify /dpkg creation into a different paritition?

Is there an issue with extension conflict? Example, running both a Tiny Core and dpm extension at the same time that both rely on their own versions of ncurses.

Kind of a hybrid between Tiny Core and dCore, not sure yet where it fits...maybe have your cake and eat it too :)

Can use:  TCEDIR="/mnt/sdaxx/yyy" dpm -w xxx
or: export TCEDIR="/mnt/sdaxx/yyy"

Yes, errors may be occurred.

Some packages need option "-c", for example, binutils,gcc,gcc-5,g++-5,python,perl-base,audacious.
Good luck :)

Hi aswjh,

I linked dpkg/ to a roomier partition so all is good, thanks for providing options.

You may want to include notification to load squashfs-tools before installing through dpm to avoid errors/having to restart.

Test installed games-minesweeper and it did not provide a working executable in /bin, unsure why.

Test installed qpdfview, it gave numerous errors and would not run. Clipped for your review.

Any other suggestions please let me know - thanks.

Just wanted to leave a more positive note. efax-gtk installed with several errors but runs. Have not yet tested with a fax modem, although everything looks good. This would have taken me days to figure out how to build myself. So i guess hit or miss. If you have any other troubleshooting suggestions regarding qpdfview please let me know.

libcups.so is in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu,
add /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu into /etc/ld.so.conf, then sudo ldconfig,
or set LD_LIBRARY_PATH,
or run: dpm config

Thanks aswjh, 'dpm config' did the trick. Can't believe it, now running latest qpdfview v0.4.14 for tabbed-pdf on TC 6  :)

There's no way i could have built this myself - QT5 and a mile-long list of dependencies - your skills are awesomeness!

hello asjwh

kudos to your programming skills.....

i'm trying to use these scripts to download tuxtype and klavaro.....using dpm -w tuxtype or klavaro successfully downloads and creates the tcz but when i try to load the extensions i'm getting a load of errors

could you help to troubleshoot where the load fails? it would be simpler if you attempted the convert as i'm struggling to make sense of what the errors are referring to

of course if needed i will paste the results from the terminal

thanks

jessie is needed, now debain sid libs are too new for tc6:
run 'dpm config' first, then edit tce/dpkg/dpm.rc, set DEVNAME to jessie,
delete all debs, tczs of tuxtype and klavaro,
download and install again,
/usr/games/tuxtype and klavaro should work.

excellent aswjh

i'd already tried those steps but was still getting the errors and as the game wasn't launching with the toolbar icon or the menu entry item, i thought there was a compilation issue.

i've just run it again for tuxtype and got the same errors (i think) but the game launched using the /usr/games/tuxtype filepath in the terminal

thanks for the quick response and resolution
