USB image not recognized
« on: September 10, 2015, 10:01:04 PM »
Hi, I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.1 and tried using UNetbootin and the method before that, on the TinyCore non-CD installation Wiki. When the GRUB menu pops up, I only see Ubuntu, an option to open the BIOS settings and another one that isn't the USB. It may be due to UEFI. Is there a way to wipe my whole drive so that the USB iso boots? Thanks in advance.

Core is not compatible with unetbootin. Just dd the iso directly to the raw USB device.
Then boot it and use it to do a normal install to a USB drive as a hard drive.

It may be due to UEFI.

Assuming you are not using a mac, you most likely need to use the 64-bit corepure64 rather than core(plus) with a uefi boot machine.

I deleted extra files I had, put the boot menu options to legacy, and it worked. I'm using the 86-bit version on a 64-bit PC to use less space. Now I just don't know how to get the Intel Centrino wireless working.

A 64-bit pc is likely to have enough hd and ram that the difference in size between the 32-bit and 64-bit core and extensions wouldn't be noticed and you'd be able to take advantage of more than 4gb ram if you have it and use uefi boot.

..but of course it's entirely up to you  :)

It's likely you'll need to load a firmware extension for your intel wireless - what does "lsusb" say the exact hardware details are?
