Add icons to the desktop

Hi,

i want to create icons on the desktop (not on the wbar). I have several files needed on a daily base like todolist.txt
so i want to create an icon on the desktop who executes the editor and load the file.
Saw some examples but can't get any to work...

You need to have a windows manager that supports icons on the desktop.
I use icewm and idesk.
