Sound problem

(1/1)

terrybull:
I am not exactly new to Linux but new to TC and have minimal Linux knowledge and I know that sound has been an issue for others. I am using the latest tinycore plus on a humble Panasonic cf27 laptop that I know uses a Yamaha sound card. I think I'm right in saying that I have to install alsa to have a chance of getting this working. When I search alsa in the applications I get 8 hits from alsa-config to mplayer-g45-alsa.tcz. I don't know which/ what I should install and any advice please.
Thanks.

Juanito:
You can start with the alsa extension - please be sure to read the info file.

aug:
Install alsa, alsa-config and alsamixergui

Juanito is the guru here in case you have not gathered.

I will just add some quick comments.

If you open a terminal and type this command and press enter

--- Code: ---lspci -v
--- End code ---
If you see no mention of any audio device or devices......then reboot and get into bios to enable sound please.

google suggests you might not have a Yamaha sound device but one which is supplied by Intel.  Maybe its a Intel8x0

If you can't get sound after reading both the alsa info and the alsa-config, report back and we will go thru some trouble-shooting steps to
detect your hardware--detect your kernel module--then to setup sound---------------------only if you can't get sound the easy way

good luck
