no networking

New to Tiny core, 32 bit version is ok but now realize I need 64b.
Burned a usb stick twice, with rufus, but it comes up with NO NETWORKING.
doesnt see my ether I/F.
what am i doing wrong ?

Are you speaking of wired or wireless networking? What network hardware does your machine have?

If you created and booted a 32-bit usb stick, why not just add the 64-bit files to that and create a new menu entry to boot corepure64?

the ether H/W in a PCH; i think in Fedora 21 (and maybe Tiny Core 32b; i didn't think to look ) it's the igxb (sp?) driver ?

I initially hit a wall when i tried    "chroot /mntpoint/ofmy/fedora21system <various commands>"
and found, oh yeah, my Fedora is 64b.

Now that works; but without networking I can't proceed.

@Juanito: don't i still need a 64b kernel?

just booted both TinyCorePure64-6.3.iso and CorePure64-6.3.iso via virtualbox; the former has networking,
so i may have my solution.

Very quickly, what do I do with, say, file.tcz, to add the "file" command ?  i.e. where do I drop it.

I strongly recommend you take a little time to read:

Tinycore is different from other Linuxs, the filesystem (/bin, /etc, /lib, /usr, etc.) gets recreated every time you boot.

It goes in your  tce/optional  directory and then needs to be loaded.

Rich, yes i know it's ram-based.
What I'm doing is unpacking the core.gz/core64.gz/whatever and adding my custom apps (which require
file and a bunch of others) , then cpio'ing it back together; thus it's there when I boot.  And I must be root.
But i also have a disk with fedora on it, and I must be able to mount/chroot <cmd>  on it.

I'll read the doc...right now I'm wondering why tce-load wants me to be non-root...

You used a third party installer (rufus). We cannot support such installations.
