Wierd problemd when using httplist and pxeboot
« on: March 17, 2015, 03:47:38 AM »
Hello

Tinycore 6 x86.

I have diskless workstations (A) that boot using PXE (kernel+initrd) and then they load tcz extensions to memory with httplist -option.
I also have workstations (B), that have Tinycore 6 x86 installed into hard disk.

When I load flash11.tcz into hard disk workstation (B), firefox is able to show flash content ok.
When I load java (sun java)  into hard disk workstation (B), firefox is able to show java content ok.

If I load the same flash11.tcz or java plug-ins to diskless workstation (A) via httplist, those plug-ins hang when I try to use those. I can see the plug-ins fine in the firefox plug-in list but plug-ins do not work. Flash test page just draws black box and never succeeds.

There is no libraries missing (ldd flashxx.so or java.so show all libs ok) and the tcz packages are exactly the same than hard disk enabled workstations (B).
Other software such as libreoffice, firefox without plug-ins, sound etc are working fine, just the browser plug-ins arent.

This has been bugging me for a long time, I don't have a clue what is the reason for this.

Any help is appreciated or any tips how to find out what causes this.

Httplist is designed to install needed drivers to allow the tce directory to reside on network storage.
It loads tcz files in the order listed, and does not process dependencies.
I recommend you use nfs or one of the other network storage methods to hold your extensions, and use the standard onboot.lst.
