TCL 4.7.7 iwlwifi - with intel wlan N6235?
« on: February 16, 2015, 09:41:39 AM »
Hi, my notebook comes with intel Centrino Advanced N6235 wireless card and the driver for it is the firmware-iwlwifi.tcz.

This works in TCL 6.0.

But when I run wifi.tcz with the firmware-iwlwifi.tcz loaded in TCL 4.7.7, the screen outputs error that it cannot connect to a wireless network. I am using the iwlwifi from the 4.x repo. I tried using the iwlwifi from the 6.x repo, but still unable to connect.

Is this a kernel issue with TCL 4.x and the N6235 wlan? If not is there a workaround for this situation?

(I'm trying the the latest of the 4.x TCL since there are many more extensions available in that repo for me compared to 6.x as of now - eg. timidity.tcz.)

Thanks for any information.

If your wifi is relatively new then it is possible that the tc-4.x kernel does not support it - you can check this on the linux wireless site.

As for the missing extensions - they might work on tc-6.x, but would require user testing first. Maybe you could try and let us know.

Thank you for the information, Juanito.

I will try to load and test the 4.x extensions in TCL 6.x, then.
